Red boots, bulking biceps, blue suits, capes and incredible ability…

…That’s what often comes to mind when we think of superheroes.  But in spite of their brawn and airbrushed beauty, it’s enough to say that a “hero” is anyone who simply saves the day. Believe it or not, the Bible is chalk full of stories about ordinary men and women who are propelled by a higher power, who respond to a need and by virtue of responding, save the day.

In fact, before Batman was ever a reality, the blueprint for the heroic is laid out in Scripture and it reflects the very heart and nature of God.  Because of Jesus—his birth, life, death, resurrection, ascension—and the descent of the Holy Spirit, the heroic can happen…here…and the next hero is closer than you think.

Join Rev. Jake Steele and CUMC as they’re inspired by this heroic word in the eight chapter of the Book of Acts. May the Lord richly bless you in your hearing and receiving.

Acts 8: 36-40
