Hi Kids!
Today we’re learning about Jesus’ disciples. Do you know how many disciples Jesus had? Jesus had twelve disciples. The disciples were like Jesus’ students. They followed Jesus around and learned everything Jesus knew about God’s love. The disciples even helped Jesus to spread his teachings to others. Watch the story below to learn how Jesus started choosing his disciples.
As you saw from the story, Jesus’ disciples were not very important or influential people. Peter and his brother, Andrew (the first of Jesus’ disciples), were just fishermen. In other words, they were ordinary people. By choosing ordinary people, Jesus shows that anyone can be a disciple of Christ and be blessed and loved by God. You don’t have to have a special skill or be smart or popular to be a disciple. Like Peter and Andrew, who only had the belief and willingness to follow Jesus, you too can be a disciple of Christ.
To be a disciple of Christ, one must learn from Jesus and try to be like him. Telling others about Jesus and performing simple acts of kindness to others is a great way to be like Jesus. For today’s activity, we’re going to learn the names of the twelve disciples. Jesus’ first disciples were fishermen, so we’re going to color some fish and write all the disciples’ names on each fish. Remember what Jesus told his disciples, “I will make you fishers of men.” Download/print the page provided below (instructions included on page) to get started.
