Welcome Back Christ Kids!
Do you remember the names of all of Jesus’ disciples? It’s ok if you don’t. There is one of Jesus’ disciples that you should know however, and that is Simon Peter. Peter became one of Jesus’ biggest followers, but in the beginning, Peter had doubts about Jesus. Peter even denied that he knew Jesus on several occasions! Peter felt great shame about this and saught for Jesus’ forgiveness. Jesus just had one question for Peter…

What Jesus had to say to Peter teaches us a lot about love and forgiveness. Having love, especially for God and Jesus, is our only requirement to follow Him and we can do great things with that love. When we love Him with all our hearts, we can spread His love to others. Those others then spread His love to even more people, and so on. We then would have a world full of His love which would be an amazing thing!
Do you remember when Jesus told Peter to feed his sheep? Jesus didn’t mean his actual sheep. He was telling Peter to love and take care of his people. Peter went on to do just that by spreading the love of Jesus and the word of God. Today, we’re going to make some sheep in remembrance of what Jesus said to Peter.
You’ll need a few things to make your sheep:
- Paper plate
- Cotton balls
- Paper (construction or thicker paper if available)
- Crayons/Markers
- Scissors
- Glue
How to make your sheep:
- Place the paper plate so this it lying face down on a table:
- On the top rim of the plate write your name:
- On the bottom rim of the plate write “Do You Love Me?” and “Feed My Sheep”:
- Glue the cotton balls all over the inside of the plate keeping the rim of the plate cotton-ball free and your writing visible:
- Take a piece of paper (or 2) and cut out a medium-sized circle, 2 smaller oval circles that resemble floppy ears, and four long rectangles. This will be the sheep’s head, ears and legs. Color these black:
- Take another piece of paper and cut out eyes, a nose, and a mouth. Color to your likeness:
- Glue the ears, eyes, nose and mouth where they belong on the head then glue this to the rim on the left side of the plate above “Do You Love Me?”:
- Flip the paper plate over and glue 2 of the legs on the left side just below the head and glue the other 2 legs directly across the plate:
- Flip the plate back over and voila! Your sheep is complete.
