(LYRICS BELOW)
Enjoy this piece that was written and performed for the baptism of Bethany Kate Steele. The song chronicles the experience of Mary & Martha as they desperately awaited Jesus to heal Lazarus but it also parallels the experience of the Steele family as they struggled with infertility and celebrated the redeeming power of the Lord who once again breathed life in a place where there was none.

“Bethany”
(John 11: 1-44)
Verse 1
Lord, something’s happened inside this house,
And we can’t manage by ourselves.
We’ve done all that we know how to do…
…and we’re crying out, crying out to you.
Refrain:
Take us to a place where hope is conceived;
Lord, hasten the day when all eyes may see,
Of all the prayers and all the pleas,
That you’ve received this one from me.
Time’s fleeting now; Where could you be?
We’re sending word from Beth-an-y.
Verse 2
Minutes into hours and hours into days,
I know that my ways are not your ways.
But you have asked me to trust you; so I’m staying right here,
Believing you’ll make sense of things unclear.
Refrain:
We long for a place where hope is conceived;
Lord, hasten the day when all eyes may see,
That loss gives way to victory;
That stones still roll away indeed;
Where love unbinds and truth sets free
At Beth-an-y, at Beth-an-y.
Verse 3
Word made flesh, you spoke and moved,
In a stone-sealed tomb; in a darkened womb.
From death to life; forever changed.
We praise your name, We praise your name!
Refrain:
This is a place where hope is conceived!
This is the day when eyes do see,
That loss gave way to victory;
That stones still roll away indeed;
To You all thanks and glory be,
For Beth-an-y!
