Before David was the Giant Slayer he was a kid who hung out with common critters.

Indeed, one doesn’t have to be a Bible scholar to know something of the life of David.  Normally when his name is mentioned, most of us conjure images of valor or greatness. Our memory flashes early pictures of childhood during some camp song or Sunday School class where we learned of David’s heroism and dreamed of conquering our own giants.

It is our tendency to gravitate only toward the successes of those we see in scripture…and we do so to our detriment because it distances us emotionally and puts them out of touch with the realities that often confront us.

But contrary to popular belief, the former Giant Slayer is just…like…us.

On this Father’s Day, join Rev. Jake Steele and CUMC as they discover the someone who served as the springboard to David discovering his destiny…and that someone isn’t who you’d think it to be.
