After appearing to the disciples and displaying those death-defeating scars, the Gospels talk about Jesus opening their minds to understanding the scriptures.
Indeed, it seems that in the fullness of time Jesus not only appeared among that small band of fearful men who were cowering behind closed doors, but he also opened their sealed tight minds to new understandings. Following his ascension and the descent of the promised Comforter at Pentecost, the lives of those disciples would never be the same. Neither would the world from that point on.
Timing is everything. Genesis tells of how God wrought order out of chaos and created in very timed, deliberate steps. The writer of Ecclesiastes iterates that for everything there is a season and a time…Have you ever given much thought about how events unfold in your life? Timing is everything. It’s true for calendars and faith communities.
