Mary’s life was turned upside down…

…some would even say it was in ruins.  Word came from Gabriel; the Word would become flesh and she’d be a carrier of the Good News…literally!  What’s interesting is that she doesn’t seem alarmed by the angel’s arrival.  Gabriel’s presence isn’t as perplexing as his proposition, since saying ‘yes’ to a life of God meant absolutely EVERYTHING!

And yet, despite the implications, we find her shouting a song of joy upon her visit to Elizabeth’s home.

How could she sing amidst so much pain and potential persecution?

The answer lies in the message she received in the middle of mess.  She heard the angel’s voice…and the messenger was closer than she ever imagined.  The same can be said of us.  Join Rev. Jake Steele and CUMC in the second week of this sermon series!  May you be richly blessed in your hearing and receiving.
