Rules are a necessary part of every game…

…without them the game becomes unplayable.  But if it becomes all about the rules, the game becomes un-enjoyable and defies the very reason the game was created in the first place.

Over time, somehow the church as a whole has garnered the unflattering reputation of being a place comprised of religious rule keepers who take pleasure in notifying others of violations.  Yet, this perception is grossly different than the church Jesus died in part to establish.

As you receive this word from Rev. Jake Steele and CUMC, may you be richly blessed to know we’re called to be exceptions to the rule.  May the Lord challenge, change and convict by the hearing of this word from the Gospel of John.
