Christ UMC Family,
Since 2009, the Youth Services System of Wheeling provides a Winter Freeze Shelter for our homeless brothers and sisters. For the second year in a row, the Winter Freeze Shelter is located at the old Ohio Valley Medical Center on 2000 Eoff Street in downtown Wheeling. Christ UMC has been teaming up with YSS to help prepare warm beds at the shelter. Other than pillows and blankets for the beds, warm clothing, meals, personal care items, medical attention, security, and fellowship are provided to those who come to the shelter. For a full description of the YSS Winter Freeze Shelter click here.
On Sunday, December 5th at 1:00 p.m., members of the Christ UMC congregation will be heading to the Winter Freeze Shelter to prepare beds for the first night of guests. Volunteers are always welcome and appreciated! If you would like to participate, please meet us at the church at 12:30 p.m. to leave by 12:40. The YSS staff will meet us there upon arrival. If you have blankets, coats, gloves, hats, personal hygiene items, or any of the below items to donate to the shelter, please bring them with you. If you are participating or have questions, please contact Linda Bryant at 304-780-1939.
