Hi Kids!
Today, we’ll hear a story that takes place way back in the days of the Old Testament. During this time, people would travel far and wide to find land to call their own. A man named Abraham and his nephew, Lot were one of these people. One day, God told Abraham to gather his family (including Lot) to go in search of new land. Because Abraham was faithful to God, he did as he was told. Watch the story below to learn where Abraham and his family went and what happened there.
Why do you think Abraham let Lot choose first? Abraham did this because he didn’t want to quarrel with Lot, he wanted peace with him. Lot chose land (Sodom) that looked prosperous on the outside but later learned was riddled with hidden troubles on the inside. Eventually, Lot had to flee Sodom due to its destruction. On the other hand, God took care of and blessed Abraham because of his faithfulness and his willingness to share. Abraham and his family prospered in the land left to him for many years to come.
This story illustrates three important keys: making peace with others, sharing what you have, and having faith in God. To help us remember this story, there are two activities available to complete. The first activity is a coloring page that depicts Abraham and Lot looking over the land and deciding which area to choose. The second activity is a word scramble. Unscramble the words to find letters that will reveal a hidden message.
