Do this in remembrance of me.

Luke 22: 19c

Hi Kids!

During the season of Lent, many people like to hear stories of Jesus’ life in the weeks leading up to his resurrection, a.k.a. Easter. During this time, Jesus’ actions were highly significant because Jesus knew that he would be gone soon and had much more to teach. Today we are going to hear one of those stories, the story of Jesus washing his disciples’ feet. Watch the short video below to learn more.

Jesus always has a purpose behind his actions. By washing his disciples’ feet, Jesus wanted his friends to remember him by his example of serving others. We, too, can serve like Jesus. This story reminds us of Jesus’ life and of who we are called to be as his disciples by following his examples. Although we don’t wash other people’s feet today: we have better shoes and our feet don’t get as dirty, there are other acts of service we can do to serve like Jesus. Helping a neighbor take out the trash, caring for someone who is sick, or helping a friend clean up a spill are all great examples of serving like Jesus.

There are a few activities to do today based on our lesson. One activity contains a secret code. Find the code by adding correct letters to each blank by using the code key provided on the worksheet. The other activity is a coloring page depicting Jesus washing Peter’s feet. Download/print the activities below to get started.
