Hi Kids!

If you had the opportunity to spend time with Jesus, what would you be doing in his presence? Would you do your schoolwork, your chores, or keep playing with your game, or would you sit with Jesus and listened to all he had to say? Well, today’s bible story touches on two sisters, Mary and Martha, who were visited by Jesus one day at their home. Watch the story below to learn what happened during Jesus’ visit.

In a fast-paced society, we are always trying to be busy. If we don’t look busy, we may appear lazy. It’s good to get things accomplished, but busyness can distract us from more important things going on around us. Because Martha was so busy preparing a meal for Jesus, she missed out on what Jesus was teaching Mary. The story of Mary and Martha shows us that while in the Lord’s presence, it’s important to make time for him and listen to him.

During Jesus’ time, to sit at someone’s feet meant to take instruction from that person. Although we can’t sit at Jesus’ feet as Mary did, we can still learn from his teachings by studying the Bible. This week, with your family, take out your Bible and read a few passages. While you and your family are reading the Bible, try to shed all distractions and listen. Then discuss what you learned from Jesus that day.

For today, there are two activities provided below. The first is a word lineup where you unscramble keywords about the story to find a message Jesus wants us to do while in his presence, and the other is a coloring page of the story itself. You can do one or both. Download and print the pdf below.
