Hi Kids!
In today’s story, we learn that while Jesus was teaching the crowds during his “Sermon on the Mount”, he decided to cross the Sea of Galilee with his disciples. The Sea of Galilee often is referred to as a lake. During Jesus’ time, lakes, seas, or any other bodies of water were considered dangerous and evil powers. The fact that Jesus wanted to cross one was no small thing. Watch the video below to learn what happened to Jesus and his disciples on the Sea of Galilee.
When was the last time you saw someone command storm clouds to go away or the sun to shine and nature obeyed that person? Never? That’s the thing with Jesus. He can make the impossible, possible because he is the son of God. Perhaps Jesus wanted to cross the Sea of Galilee to show his disciples and the rest of his followers who he was and to test their faith. Whatever his motives, Jesus is a rescuer in this story as well as countless other stories. It’s important to have faith in Jesus because maybe someday when you need rescuing, Jesus will be there for you.
For today’s activity, we will be recreating the scene of Jesus’ boat journeying through the storm on the Sea of Galilee. Download/print the pdf below to get the craft. Materials needed and instructions are provided on the pdf. Enjoy!
