Hi Kids!
After learning about Jesus’ parents, Mary and Joseph, the past few weeks, we are finally moving on to the main reason of why we celebrate Christmas; Jesus’ birth! Jesus’ birth is significant because Jesus was a gift to us from God. God showed his love to us in the form of a baby born in a lowly place. Watch the story below on Jesus’ birth:
So how is Jesus a gift from God? Jesus Christ grew up and became the savior of all people. Because Jesus gave his life to save people from their sins, we are able to join Jesus and his heavenly father, God, when we pass and leave this earth. As we celebrate Jesus’ death and ascension for Easter, we too should celebrate his life and birth for Christmas.
Christmas is a time to celebrate four main things: hope, peace, joy, and love. These are what Jesus brought to the lives of many during his lifetime and remains to do so today. Jesus’ life consisted of caring for and giving to others in need. As you celebrate Christmas this year, think of ways in which you can give to others.
For today’s activity, we’re making an ornament to hang on our Christmas trees in remembrance of the birth of Jesus. Download/print the worksheet below (instructions provided on worksheet). Color the ornament to your liking.
