Hi kids!

Today we’re finishing our story on Jacob and Esau. If you can remember from the past couple of weeks, Jacob and Esau were twin brothers born of Isaac and Rebekah. Jacob and Esau were very different from each other and did not get along. Jacob tricked both is brother, Esau, and his father, Issac, in getting Esau’s birthright and blessing from God. Because of this, Esau was very angry with Jacob and wanted to kill him! Jacob, therefore, was forced to run away. Watch the story below to see what happens to Jacob after he leaves his home.

Is there any part of this story that sounds familiar to you? How about the part when God says to Jacob, “Your descendants will be as great in number as the dust of the earth…?” Sounds similar to what God said to Abraham, Jacob’s grandfather, a long time ago. God said to Abraham, “I will make your descendants as numerous as the stars in the sky…” We see now with Jacob’s dream that God’s promise to his grandfather, Abraham, continues to be fulfilled, and all of Abraham’s descendants will be blessed by God.

God’s promises and blessings are truly amazing. Remember that God never fails in keeping a promise and gives many blessings even though it may not be in a direct way. Sometimes God talks to us when we are quiet, and sometimes God speaks when we are in the midst of chaos. We need to listen for God at all times. We can all talk to God by praying to Him, but prayer isn’t always asking for things. Sometimes prayer is sitting still and listening for God. Blessings from God may come to us anytime, even in moments of silence or in a dream like in Jacob’s experience.
