Hi kids and welcome back!
Do you remember the story we heard a few weeks ago about Jacob and Esau, the two brothers who didn’t get along and where Jacob deceived Esau into giving him his birthright? It turns out, there is more to Jacob and Esau’s story and things don’t get any better between them. Watch the video below to hear more of the story:
You may be wondering something after watching the story, “Why wasn’t God angry with Jacob?” Wouldn’t you think God would have been upset with Jacob for the bad things he did to his brother, Esau? Even though what Jacob did was bad, God still loved Jacob and even promised to protect him and never leave his side.
There are three things we can learn about God from this story:
-
God is forgiving
-
God will always love you
-
God is always with you
For today’s activity we’re going to recreate Jacob’s dream with angels going up and down a ladder. See instructions below:
- Download/print the two PDF files here: Jacob’sLadder Angels
- Any regular printing paper is fine but may be best to print on thicker stock if available.
- Color Jacob dreaming and the angels.
- On the Jacob dreaming page, fold the page on the dotted lines. Cut along the fold. You should have two slits in the page where the dotted lines were.
- On the angel page, cut the left and right side of the angels (cut as close to the angels as possible). You should have one long strip of the angels in a row.
- Take the angels behind the Jacob dreaming page and insert the top of the angels through the bottom slit. Take the same end and feed it through the top slit to where the angels are going behind the Jacob dreaming page.
- Move the strip of angels up and down.
