Christ UMC Family,

Perhaps you may never have been personally affected by the struggles of addiction, whether it be yourself or your family, but what if you did know someone else who is facing that dark reality? It could be your neighbor down the street, your friend, co-worker or someone they are related to. Wouldn’t you want to help that person you care for get the help they need? You may ask, “Where in this community can I go or direct someone else to for help?”

Since 2005, the Community Impact Coalition by the Youth Services System along with the Ohio County Family Resource Network in downtown Wheeling has been offering services to individuals and families who have faced struggles with addiction. The Community Impact Coalition’s services are open and available for those who live and work in Ohio County, WV.

As a wide spread effort to reduce substance abuse and help those in need in Ohio County, the Community Impact Coalition and partners are hosting a virtual event called Discover Recovery on June 23rd, 2020 live from the Community Impact Coalition Facebook page for those with addiction and/or their families. You may find the Community Impact Coalition Facebook page here, https://www.facebook.com/impactcoalition/

Individuals with drug or alcohol dependency often need services long before they are “ready” or “willing” to accept help. Discover Recovery’s purpose is to provide advance resources and the opportunity to pre-plan for a person with addiction. The full spectrum of help will be offered from detox, to treatment & through recovery! Resources will be available to address potential barriers that can deter a person from entering treatment. Help & support resources for family and friends of those struggling will also be available! It’s a judgement free zone with substance abuse help, resources, and information.
