In this Lent Season, a special class has been created to celebrate and understand the meaning behind Easter. In this small group study, we’ll examine people whose lives have intersected with Jesus leading to his crucifixion from Andy Stanley’s book titled, “Why Easter Matters”.
In his book, Andy Stanley asks, “Have you ever been at odds with God? Have you resisted, defied, or tried to bargain your way out of what you thought God wanted?
He goes to further explain that the people who have encountered Jesus were in some way opposed to him and had their own agenda that put them at odds with God and Jesus. In today’s world, although we may not know it, we too can at times be at odds with God and Jesus. As we dig deeper into this study, we will begin to realize that there is a little bit of these people in all of us.
This class was originally planned to be a small group gathering at the church on Sunday evenings. Due to the current situation, however, we are not able to gather, but there are other ways to learn, discuss and share our thoughts on this topic with one another in the safety of our homes.
Physical distance doesn’t have to compromise discipleship. We’ll be staying engaged in the Word and with each other. For those participants who are wondering, We WILL move forward with our Lenten Study using ZOOM on Wednesday evenings @ 7:00 pm starting on April 15th.
For those of you who didn’t originally sign up, this is a PERFECT opportunity for you to simply tune in, engage the video segments with us and be a part of our digital discussions. If you’re one of those, send Pastor Jake an email at jacobsteele714@gmail.com and we’ll be sure to connect you.
