“There’s got to be more than the daily grind. Surely there’s something that transcends the routine rush of running, working, earning, juggling and repeating. What if I’m living life and overlooking something? My heart and mind morph into a megaphone that screams, ‘There’s more!’
Have you ever felt lost in that web of wondering? As a young husband, father and pastor, Jake knows how hectic and high-paced life can become—especially for young families. The rigors of a work routine and other demands can leave us feeling drained and disconnected. Even in the sea of social media outlets that connect us, our generation is discovering that connection doesn’t foster closeness. It seems that no matter how online or in tune we are, the human heart still hungers for community and a larger call that draws us out from inward living.
Rev. Jake Steele isn’t a stranger to those kinds of existential struggles. He is a millennial who has learned that a “filled” life doesn’t constitute a “full” life and he’s progressively finding fullness in a life that follows Jesus Christ alongside others who seek to be Jesus’ disciples. Through 11 years of ministry, Jake understands the church to be a place where people not only learn and love through community, but are invariably deployed to lead in it as well.
As a pastoral leader, Jake also sees the local church as a crucible for Christian thought, where people can feel comfortable asking questions. He describes himself as a “perpetual learner” whose faith in Christ has grown, not by merely collecting the right answers, but by asking the right questions.
For anyone who has questions about faith and is looking for a place of connection and community, check out this site or stop by and say hello!
