Hanging at the HOUSE!

CUMC’s 2017 Class of Confirmands hung out at The House of the Carpenter to gain an understanding not only of what it means to be the church, but how and why it’s important.  While there, Director Rev. Mike Linger led us in a game that gave us a window of insight about poverty and its challenges:

After that, we broke into two different groups. One group sorted food for backpacks–an effort that sustains over 250 local children weekly.  Another group sorted paper products, school supplies, personal hygiene supplies, cleaning supplies and non-perishable food items that were collected during a district wide Celebration of Mission Event.

We worked fast and got a lot done in 15 minutes!  Thanks to our mentors and especially Rev. Mike for their time and effort!

Pictured below are Gary Bryant and Bob Strasser (Christ UMC); Steve Durrah (Glen Dale UMC), and Bill Wade (Warwood UMC).  The team of men gathered for the construction of a wheelchair ramp at a home near St. Clairsville OH.  With the efforts of the team, the house is now accessible and its residents can come and go with greater efficiency!
